The Trail of the Lonesome Pine is a 1908 western novel by John Fox, Jr. It became Fox's most successful book and was amongn the top ten bestselling novels for 1908 and 1909. It has been adapted numerous times for both stage and screen. It also inspired the same-titled song, which was published in 1913.
