Lionel Maxwell, a sculptor, discovers in Paris a book concerning the legend of the White Priests-immortals offered by Ormuzd to Ahriman as a gesture of good faith. Maxwell joins an expedition to seek out these legendary beings, before returning home to construct a statue based on his experiences. However, the sinister Dr. Rawlins has his own ideas about the creation of such a work of art.
